Meet the Host

Join Erik and Junhee, seasoned offshore sailors with over two decades of navigating the high seas, on an epic adventure that marries the thrill of sailing with a deep commitment to the oceans' well-being. As founders of PVO Expeditions, they have channeled their passion for the outdoors into creating not just journeys across the water, but transformative experiences that foster ocean conservation and address climate challenges. This non-profit, independent expedition company is renowned for its unique, mission-driven voyages that are as much about storytelling and content creation as they are about adventure.

In collaboration with Katapult Future Fest 2024, we invite you to set sail with us, contribute to meaningful change, and experience the beauty and transformative power of the open sea.

Creating Ocean Impact Through Sailing Expedition Journey:

At PVO Expeditions, our firm belief is that we can spread positive energy while having lots of fun. In fact, the impact is greater when people are having such an amazing time together, and that energy can be transferred to others on an even bigger scale as a remarkable experience. Imagine the world we can create when we all have this mindset. The rest is assured. 😍

Impact Highlights:

This route will focus on the advancement of the inner self by immersing into the local oceanic settings and embracing physical and mental challenges through a long-distance sailing journey as a team.

  • Engage in community improvement and influence the local marine community through open talk and taught sessions. i.e. Personal lifehack for reducing the impact of human activities on the ocean.

  • Foster a deeper connection - surrounding elements of ocean and nature and human civilization built around them, and explore how to foster positive experiences for both sides.

  • Participate in open discussions and self-reflection sessions to help advance consciousness and overcome individual challenges related to the sailing experience.(https://www.innerdevelopmentgoals.org/)

  • Take part in group onboard challenges, such as reducing plastic waste while sailing to zero.

  • Share and spread knowledge on topics, i.e. harnessing wind power for sustainable ocean travel, understanding weather systems and navigation skills for everyday life, and techniques for overcoming anxiety, among others.

Islands, Islands, and More Islands

Discover Sweden's most westerly archipelago, the Väderöarna Archipelago (The Weather Islands), a kayaking heaven for seafood enthusiasts. Explore Käringön Island, where you'll find charming red fishing sheds, tiny outhouses, and gardens that have preserved their 19th-century charm.

National Marine Park

Experience Sweden's first national marine park, Kosterhavet, centered around the car-free Koster Islands with their unique coastline of beaches and rocky islands. Don't miss a visit to Åstol Island, just off Tjörn, known for its freshly smoked seafood.

Charming Fishing Villages

Immerse yourself in the kooky and quaint fishing villages along the coast. Grebbestad, the birthplace of 90% of Sweden’s oysters, offers eco-friendly seafood catching and tasting sessions at Everts Sjöbod, a restored 19th-century boathouse. Base yourself in Lysekil for further archipelago exploration, including the picturesque villages of Fiskebäckskil and Grundsund on the island of Skaftö.

Visit Marstrand, a playground that has hosted royalty and celebrities, boasting a rich and intriguing history. Enjoy impressive views across the archipelago from Carlsten’s Fortress.

Herring, History, and Shellfish Trips

Experience the significance of herring on the West Coast, celebrated on 'Herring Day' every June 6. Join the festivities and raise a glass in the picturesque fishing villages. Explore Klädesholmen and dine at the waterfront restaurant Salt & Sill. Join local fishermen on a seafood hunt for lobster, oysters, and mussels.
